Mustafizur in Test squad with BCL performance
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced squad for the only Test against Zimbabwe. Pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been included in the squad after he’s left out for the Test against Pakistan.
Mustafizur played his last Test against New Zealand in 2019 at Wellington. However, he has returned to the squad with the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) performance.
A few days ago, head coach Russell Domingo said that Mustafizur was only thinking about limited-overs cricket. But that decision had been changed this time.
He got six wickets in two innings against North Zone in the first match of Center Zone. Then the selectors were forced to think about him.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu explained to reporters after the team was announced at the Home of Cricket in Mirpur on Sunday (February 16th).
“It was not told from the selection panel (Mustafizur was thinking about just limited overs cricket),” Nannu said.
“The coach thought this but now that he is back in the BCL, he must be considered in red-ball. I had a talk with the coach this morning about it. Then we included him. Mustafizur has seen two consecutive BCL matches and he has been bowling same as before.”
The only Test will be held on February 22 next.
