Mustafizur will bowl more inswingers: Gibson
Bangladesh pace bowling coach Ottis Gibson has praised Mustafizur Rahman after the latter showed impressive performance in the first ODI against West Indies.
Mustafizur, who took 2 wickets for 20 runs in Bangladesh’s victory, displayed skills of swinging the ball back into the right-handed batsmen.
His first-over scalp of Sunil Ambris was an lbw – bowling from over the wicket, the ball pitched on around middle-stump area and swung back as the ball tracker showed the it would have hit the leg-stump.
Gibson has been working on to develop Mustafizur’s ability to bowl an inswinger since appointed as the coach. The Barbadian has said more inswingers are expected to come in the upcoming matches.
“Yeah, for sure. He (Mustafizur) has worked hard. He’s good to work with. He’s quite fun to work with. We’re trying to get the ball swing back in. We’ve tried many different things with his wrist position. With the wrist position he has proven that he can swing it in,” Gibson told the reporters.
“Hopefully he will grow from strength to strength and get better. In coming matches you will see more balls coming back in.”
The Fizz was in sublime form coming into the series. He was the player of the tournament for his side Gazi Group Chattogram, the runners-up, in Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020.
