Nafees reveals reason behind good friendship with Rohit’s wife

Recently, Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal had hosted a live session with the cricketers to entertain the fans in the lockdown. India star opener Rohit Sharma was his guest in the show. Rohit disclosed there that his wife and Tamim’s elder brother Nafees Iqbal are good friends.

Nafees reveals reason behind good friendship with Rohit's wife

The friendship between Nafees and Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh started in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. That year, Bangladesh star pacer Mustafizur Rahman played for Rohit-led Mumbai Indians. Nafees was associated with Mumbai as Mustafizur’s interpreter.

Nafees was always with the team as a support staff. However, only certain staff members had the opportunity to stay in the dugout during the game. So at that time, Nafees stayed at the gallery with cricketers’ family members. It was there that Nafees had a good chitchat with Rohit’s wife Ritika.

In Tamim’s live show, Rohit revealed that the between of friendship between Nafees and Ritika was French fries. This time, Nafees said in Bdcrictime live adda that they became friends when they went to watch Mumbai’s game in IPL together.

“I was always with the team for different activities of the team. But there could be a certain number of staff in the dugout during a match which is also in out BPL [Bangladesh Premier League]. So they would give me tickets before a match to watch the game from the gallery where cricketer’s family members also stayed in that same place,”

Nafees said.

It’s not like that Nafees made friendship with just Rohit’s wife. He became close to the families of many cricketers while enjoying the game together. However, the understanding between him and Rohit’s wife was a little too much.

“There was not only Rohit’s wife but also other cricketers’ wives. For example, there was Kieron Pollard’s wife and children. There created a beautiful group among us. Lots of good bonding have been created. Rohit Sharma had given me a lot of respect. Since he was the captain, my work was much with him. He would talk to me to get to know Mustafiz. I had a good relationship with everyone including Hardik Pandya,” the former Bangladesh opener concluded.
