Named squad for three Tests: Nannu

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu had said on Friday (January 31) that they would name the squad for three Tests. But when the squad of announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today (Saturday), it said it was for the Rawalpindi Test only.Bangladesh three Tests squad

However, Nannu has again confirmed to BDCricTime that it was a mistake from their side to call it squad for just one match. Actually the squad given on Saturday was really for three upcoming Tests.

After losing the three-match T20I series by 0-2 with the third one abandoned due to rain, Bangladesh will travel Pakistan for two more phases, to play two Tests and a solitary ODI. In the second phase, Mominul Haque’s side will play the Test in Rawalpindi, and the second Test will be played in the third phase. In between, the Tigers will play another Test at their home turf against Zimbabwe.

As there are three Tests coming up, Nannu had said: “We will have three Tests one after another, so we will give a 14-man squad for all three Tests.”

But after BCB mistakenly announcing that the squad was only for Rawalpindi Test, BDCricTime contacted with Nannu. He said, “There was a little mistake. Not one Test, we have given squad for all three Tests. We are trying to take steps for correcting the mistake.”

While Shadman Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Imrul Kayes were not included in the squad due to injury, the biggest surprise came in the form of Mustafizur Rahman’s snubbing.

Nannu said, “We could not keep Mustafiz considering his recent forms.”
