Narine’s bowling action cleared by IPL suspect committee
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) off-spinner Sunil Narine was reported for suspect bowling action once again after the game against Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing IPL.
Half of the career Sunil Narine has been busy with rectifying his bowling action and once again, he had to undergo a bowling test after he was reported in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). But this time the bowling all-rounder got the good news in just a few days.
Narine has been cleared by IPL’s suspect bowling action committee and thus, he has been removed from the suspect action warning list. As soon as his bowling action was reported, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) did not play him in the next two matches as they wanted the Suspect Bowling Action Committee to review his action.
The committee, having studied footage of his bowling, concluded that the elbow bend was ‘within the range of permissible limits’. However, the committee added that Narine should continue with the same action as the one submitted for review.
A media release from IPL stated that: “KKR requested for an Official Assessment of Mr Narine’s action from the IPL Suspect Bowling Action Committee, submitting action footage in slow motion with back and side angles. The Committee carefully reviewed all the deliveries of action footage sent of Mr Narine with the naked eye and has come to the conclusion that the elbow-bend appears to be within the range of permissible limits.”
“The Committee also noted that Mr. Narine should reproduce the same action going forward in the IPL 2020 matches as presented to the Committee in the video footage. Mr Narine has now been removed from the IPL Suspect Action Warning List.”
It’s very likely that Narine will feature in the next game for Kolkata Knight Riders which is against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
