Naseem likely to miss Zimbabwe series
Pakistan are going to face a big blow ahead of Zimbabwe series as young pace sensation Naseem Shah will be likely to miss out the series due to injury.
Naseem picked up a groin injury while playing for Central Punjab in the National T20 Cup. Then he withdrew his name from the whole tournament. Left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood will replace Naseem in the squad.
Then, Naseem went to the National High Performance Centre in Lahore where the PCB medical panel will release a detailed and complete investigation on his injury.
Director – Medical and Sports Sciences, Dr Sohail Saleem said:
“Naseem is an asset who needs to be handled with care. As soon as he showed discomfort, we decided to withdraw him from the tournament and bring him to Lahore so that we can investigate the injury.”
Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis told ‘The News’ that Tuesday’s MRI showed that the 17-year old would be needing treatment. “Though there is nothing serious but Naseem would be needing treatment and rehabilitation so he is doubtful for Zimbabwe series. It would be unfair to risk him in the series,” he said.
So, it remains to be seen if Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will risk him for Zimbabwe series. Zimbabwe series will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is which will start from October 30 in Rawalpindi.
