National Polymer, Walton; sponsors of Bangladesh vs South Africa Series
‘National Polymer Industries Limited’, a Bangladeshi uPVC pipe manufacturing company, has recently been announced as the title sponsor for the upcoming Bangladesh-South Africa series, while ‘Walton’, the local electronics, autommmobiles, electrical and home appliance company, has been declared as the powered by sponsor. The series starting from the 5th of July, which includes two T20is, three ODIs, and pair of Test matches, hence will be known as the “National Polymer Cricket Series 2015 powered by Walton”.
It will be the first time, a specialised uPVC pipe comapany will sponsor a Bangladeshi bilateral cricket series. After BCB had ceased the sponsorship deal with Sahara Amby Valley, earlier this year, a deal which also allowed Sahara to be the title sponsor in all bilateral series hosted by Bangladesh, several companies have shown interest in sponsoring these series. The first bilateral series against Pakistan was sponsored by Dan Cake, a food manufacturing joint-venture between Bangladesh and Denmark. The next series against India was sponsored by Za’n Zee Ice Cream, and now, National Polymer has won the right to title sponsor this series. The sudden upsurge in Bangladesh cricket since the World Cup has sparked a significant amount of interest among sponsors, allowing BCB to find patrons with ease.
Though, the title sponshorship deal with National Polymer had been remoured accross the Bangladeshi media, it was officially declared on Monday, in a media conference held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and media committee chairman Jalal Younus and Walton Group Executive Director (Policy, HRM & Admin) S M Zahid Hasan were among others present on the occasion.
