Nehra picks his most expensive overseas cricketer in IPL 2021 auction
The upcoming mini IPL auction 2021 is slated to be held today in Chennai. Meanwhile, all the eight franchises are geared up to rope in the right players for the upcoming season.
Ahead of the auction, all the franchises have gone through a major clean-up process where they offloaded certain players while also retaining the core part. In the previous auction, as many as 338 players went under the hammer.
However, this time around, 292 players are set to go under the hammer including Australian stars like Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. The all-important auction will be broadcasted live on Star Sports network in India from 3 pm and on the Hotstar app for live streaming.
Nehra reveals his pick for the most expensive overseas cricketer
While talking to Star Sports on special edition IPL auction, former Indian fast bowler Nehra named his pick for the most expensive overseas player in the next auction. According to him, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib A Hasan will be the most expensive player of the upcoming auction.
Nehra reckons that the former Bangladeshi captain will bring his all-round experience to the table and franchises will fight among themselves to sign him. The former fast bowler further added saying that a player like Shakib can give balance to any IPL team in any T20.
“Again, one more IPL auction and plenty of big names, but one name, which according to me is right on top – can be the most expensive player of this IPL auction – is Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan (former captain).
He can give balance to any IPL team in any T20,” the former left-arm pacer Nehra said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected – Auction Special.
Meanwhile, as many as 10 players have set the maximum bracket of INR 2 crores (base price). It should be noted that Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav are the two Indian players in the list.
The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood are the overseas recruits in the highest bracket.
