Though Rajshahi participated in the first two editions of the BPL under the franchise of Duronto Rajshahi, they were initially cut out from this season as their previous franchise showed no interest to retain the team. But now it seems like Rajshahi is going to return to the tournament set up once again.
Shamim Ahsan, the chairman of Mango Entertainment said, “We have had discussion with BCB. Hopefully our participation will be confirmed following the next meeting of the governing council, which will take place only after the Eid. We are well prepared with our bank.guarantee and pay order. Now we need just a green signal from the board and then everything will be finalized.”
Explaining the reason behind their sudden interest on purchasing ownership of a franchise, Shamim said : “We were frustrated with the fact that no team from Rajshahi was going to participate in the BPL. We wanted there was at least one team from this region, that’s why we came forward.”
