No Indian in Dale Steyn’s best XI, three unknown players in the list
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has picked his best playing XI he played against. In his best XI he kept Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batsman Kumar Sangakara and Australian fast bowler Brett Lee as overseas.
Surprisingly, no Indian player got a place in Steyn’s XI. Instead, his ‘school bowling partner’, ‘best friend’ and ‘club captain’ got a chance in his XI. The Proteas pacer has chosen them over the top cricketers of India.
Steyn has chosen his former South African skipper Graeme Smith and former Sri Lankan captain Sangakkara as openers. Then Dave Hawken has been taken for no. 3 position. One of the greatest all-rounders of all time, Jacques Kallis slots in at no. 4 while Jhonty Rhodes comes in at no. 5 who can save some runs in fielding and bring some runs down the order.
His fellow teammate, wicketkeeper and current South African limited overs skipper Quinton de Kock has chosen for no. 6 spot. Australia’s fast bowling legend Lee, former South African spinner Paul Harris and Proteas fast bowling great Allan Donald are the main bowlers in Steyn’s best XI.
Most surprisingly, Steyn didn’t pick AB de Villiers, with whom he has played most of his international matches. But the team consists of his three friends- Dave Hawken, Bret Bargiachi and Peter Lombard.
Steyn’s best XI:
Kumar Sangakkara, Graeme Smith, Dave Hawken, Jacques Kallis, Jonty Rhodes, Quinton de Kock, Bret Bargiachi, Peter Lombard, Brett Lee, Paul Harris and Allan Donald.
