No one will be spared on disciplinary grounds: BCB President

The year 2018 has begun rather adversely in Bangladesh cricket in the act of national team star Sabbir Rahman smirking severe punishment for behavioral misconduct. The highest authority of cricket in the country withdrew his name from the central contract besides banning the prolific middle order batsman from domestic cricket for a long period of six months.

BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon hoped the sentence will carry a stern message towards others.

“We are forwarding the indication to all cricketers. No one will be spared in disciplinary ground, no matter whatever the stardom is. Everyone must obey rules,” Nazmul Hasan said.

“Cricket is so popular in Bangladesh. Cricketers are taken as icons to general people. We said it to captains of the team. New generation kids tend to say, they want to be a Shakib, a Mashrafe, Tamim or Riyad. You must not do such mistakes. Children follow their cricket icons in personal life. They will say it to all cricketers. It’s huge to take such a decision in the opening day of a year,” BCB President also said.

Sabbir is also fined 20 lac BDT besides other punishments for physically assaulting an under aged spectator in the stadium.

It can be noted this is not the first time Sabbir Rahman fall under misconduct on disciplinary grounds. Apart from him, national team cricketers Arafat Sunny, Shahadat Hossain and Rubel Hossain also faced punishment on this ground previously.
