No problem with Salahuddin’s presence in individual training: Akram
Batsman Mohammad Mithun and pacer Al-Amin Hossain were also part of the practice session at the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Academy Ground in Mirpur.
Interestingly, the Tigers head coach Russell Domingo and pace bowling cpach Ottis Gibson were also in the sidelines, and Salahuddin was seen to have a chat with Domingo as well.
Salahuddin was working with Tamim’s footwork as in the recent past his foot is going across the line on some occasions and causing his downfall while with Mominul it was all about the position of his elbow as it is falling down instead of remaining straight.
Salahuddin is considered as the last resort to many senior cricketers including Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, as the former BKSP coach Salahuddin helped these players grow up in their young age.
Still this is the first occasion in a long time that Salahuddin was seen alongside coaches of the national team during training.
Salahuddin had kept himself away from the national team training in the presence of the official coaching staff following his differences with former Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.
“Probably he [Salahuddin] joined them at the insistence of the senior cricketers. We have not started the national camp yet and if the coaching staff is fine with him around during this individual training we should not have any problem,” he said.
Batsman Mohammad Mithun also welcomed the idea of Salahuddin working with the national cricketers.
“Tamim bhai, Sourav (Mominul Hoque) everyone works personally with Salahuddin sir and he knows well about Tamim bhai and Shourav. It been only six to seven months since Domingo has arrived and Salahuddin sir has seen them for almost ten years and they were discussing with him (Salahuddin) about which moves will be right and which ones will be wrong for them,” he said.
Tamim and Mominul will work with Salahuddin on February 16 and 17 as well, before the official practice session of the national side commences on February 18.
Bangladesh’s lone Test against Zimbabwe will kickstart on February 22 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
