No Raina, Malinga in Hogg’s all-time IPL XI, surprise pick at no. 4 position
Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has kept cricket fans engaged in social media, during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak by regular interaction. The Australian spinner has recently picked Virat Kohli as the captain of his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) squad.
The veteran’s IPL team also included Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, two most successful captains in IPL history.
Hogg played two seasons for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and then a couple of editions for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He picked David Warner, AB de Villiers, Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan as the four foreign players in his best XI.
The 49-year-old picked Rohit and David Warner as openers. David Warner (4706 runs) is one of the most consistent openers in IPL. On the other hand, Rohit has an impressive record (4898 runs) in the IPL history. Captain Kohli, who is also the leading run-scorer (5412 runs) in the IPL.
Explosive batsman Rishabh Pant, who has scored 1736 runs in 54 IPL matches as been placed in at number four position. He has played four IPL edition.
AB de Villiers has been chosen as the vice-captain of the side. He played at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), comes next on batting spot. The former South African skipper scored 4395 runs in 154 matches with 151.23 strike rate. MS Dhoni has been chosen as a wicket-keeper batsman comes after Villiers.
For the bowling department, Hogg picked Suni Narine and Rashid Khan. Both of them can even make a handy contribution with the bat but mainly chosen as spinner. Hogg included former RR teammate Munaf Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah in his pace bowling side.
Although, Munaf’s name on the list is a bit surprise. He took 74 wickets in 63 matches but mostly sat out of playing XI after 2012 edition.
