Nortje available for team selection after false Covid-19 result

Once again the confusion of false corona positives spreads in the world cricket. South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje has been out of quarantine finally after testing negative for Covid-19 and will be available for selection in Delhi Capital’s next match against Punjab Kings on April 18.

Nortje set foot in India on April 6 to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). But he could not join the team after finishing quarantine, due to being ‘False Positive’.

Nortje’s quarantine is supposed to end on April 13. He should have joined the team with his fellow teammate Kagiso Rabada but at the last Covid-19 test of quarantine, the result came negative for the 27-year old fast bowler.

So he was not released from quarantine. Rabada played the last match against Rajasthan Royals, bur Nortje was still in isolation. It has been finally found out that Nortje was not affected with coronavirus. For the error in PCR test, it showed positive test results.

Confirming the matter, Delhi said in a tweet, “He’s here. Our Flag of South Africa pace superstar is now out of quarantine. After a false positive result for COVID-19, Anrich Nortje tested negative thrice, and is now part of our team bubble. We can’t wait to see him in action.”
