Shakib, however, is reluctant to accept such demands of most cricketers. According to him, Bangladesh have improved.

In a virtual press conference as the goodwill ambassador of a private organization called ‘Friendship’, Shakib said: “Today I thought I would not talk about cricket. But still I have to say. Defeat is not desirable. But not just in cricket, there will be win-lose in all sports. There is nothing to think about it. And not that we haven’t improved. Everything has improved.”

Bangladesh’s next series is against New Zealand next month. However, Shakib will not go on that limited overs tour. His absence, however, is not due to injury, but due to paternity leave.
