Nurse to miss rest of India tour
Windies off-spinner Ashley Nurse, who was doubtful for the last ODI against India is now ruled out for the remainder of the series due to pectoral muscle injury.
Due to the injury, Nurse missed the ongoing 5th ODI and he is now to miss the 3-match T20I series. Windies captain Jason Holder confirmed it during the toss of the 5th ODI in Thiruvananthapuram.
“He (Nurse) is ruled out for the entire tour. I wish him well. Hopefully, he can recover quickly for the next tour,” Holder said.
Nurse picked up five wickets and scored 55 runs in the series. He was also elected man of the match in Windies’ win in the 3rd ODI in Pune. In the following game, he was seen clutching his left shoulder after bowling a couple of overs in the fourth game.
The bowling all-rounder went back to the pavilion to receive treatment after the 10th over. However, he returned in the field and bowled 8 overs and ended up with 1 for 57. The injury didn’t look serious at that time, but in the end it turned out to a huge blow for Nurse and his side.
Meanwhile, in the last and the 5th ODI, after electing to bat first Windies are in all sorts of trouble losing 3 wickets for only 53 runs. India lead the 5-match series 2-1 and are well in with a chance to secure yet another series victory at home.
