Nuwan Pradeep suffers injury setback, ruled out of West Indies T20Is
Sri Lankan pace bowler, Nuwan Pradeep has sustained a hamstring injury and will miss the forthcoming T20I against visiting West Indies team. This was revealed by the team manager Ashantha de Mel.
The 33-year-old right-arm fast bowler sustained the hamstring injury while bowling his fifth over of his ten-over quota and 37th over of the West Indies batting in the last and final ODI of three-match series yesterday at Kandy.
“He has not yet been sent for the MRI but it seems he may not be able to play the two T20I to be played on March 4 and 6 here at Kandy,”
the manager, speaking exclusively over telephone from Kandy said.
Pradeep could bowl only four overs when he was affected with this injury and his place was taken by a substitute fielder Lahiru Kumara and the remaining three balls of his incomplete over was finished by Thisara Perera.
The trainer came on to the field and took him off to the ground. His replacement for the T20I may be named in a next few days.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka whitewashed West Indies by 3-0 in a dramatic way with a win of 6-run in the last ODI.
