Taskin has been ruled out of the New Zealand tour owing to a torn ligament after he was recalled into both ODI and Test squads following a candid show in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 tourney.

In fact, he was the competition’s leading wicket-taker with 22 dismissals until he was struck by an injury on Friday.

On the contrary, the 25-year-old Ebadot Hossain who is keen to make a debut has shown his worth in first-class matches as he claimed 59 wickets to his name.

“We’ve chosen Ebadot for Test because he bowls hitting the seam. Shafiul will come into the ODI side as he is in fine form in BPL and he is also experienced,” said Minhajul Abedin who is the chief selector.

New Zealand invite Bangladesh to play three ODIs and three Test matches between February 13 and March 20. The Tigers will be looking forward to cashing in on the chances to good effect in New Zealand soil as they failed to win any matches during their last tour of New Zealand in 2017-18.
