O’Brien smashes own car window with monstrous six
Ireland’s explosive batsman Kevin O’Brien has smashed his own car window with a six as his throbbing innings for Leinster Lightning included some significant pitfalls.
Kevin O’Brien is widely known as one of the most destructive batsman in the country. He played many remarkable innings on the international stage and is best remembered for his 113 against England in the group stages of 2011 World Cup.
However, this time his own destructive batting caused a damage to his own car. During an Inter-Provincial T20 Match in Ireland, O’Brien, who played for Leinster Lightning, smashed a six so big that the ball cruised over the arena and hit the window of his own car.
The rear window of the car was broken due to the impact of the ball. The picture was tweeted by Cricket Ireland.
O’Brien played a storming 82-run innings off 37 balls for Lightning in a rain-affected 12-over match on Thursday. The innings saw eight sixes and three fours.
O’Brien’s Lightning scored 124 runs in 12 overs. Chasing the target, their opponent The Warriors managed to score only 104 runs which resulted in 24-run victory under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method for Lightning.
However, after the match O’Brien himself tweeted about the incident. He drove his own damaged car to Toyota Long Mile to repair the damage. “Didn’t need the air-con on the drive up to you lads. unreal service once again. Never fails to disappoint. I’ll park further away next time,” he tweeted.
