ODI Series Win Means A Lot To Bangladesh
Inspirational Bangladesh Cricket team would appear in yet another final, this time of the Tri Nation ODI Series today in Dublin against West Indies prior to setting of to England and Wales for ICC World Cup 2019.
Over the past few years, Bangladesh won few bilateral series against stronger oppositions like India, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. Bangladesh reached some finals of tri national and ICC tournaments as well.
But they failed to win any, throwing away golden opportunities in few occasions. This time the team is in great momentum against not too very well organized oppositions. Business as usual should get Bangladesh to destined destination.
But as the name is the game of cricket, anything may happen. West Indies is a very inconsistent team. One day they are over the moon, the other day they are drowned in the ditches The win today will give great confidence to team tigers in the all important world cup.
Some players would take the opportunity to redeem themselves for future prospects as they would be replaced soon by more accomplished players in the world cup.
Over the last three World Cup tournaments in 2007, 2011 and 2015, Bangladesh performance got steadily impressive. In 2015 Bangladesh advanced to quarter final stage. In 2007 Mashrafe , Tamim , Shakib , Mushfiqur impressed world cricket in the first appearance.
This four with Mahmudullah, have served the golden generation of Bangladesh bringing pride and honor for country Bangladesh. They are the most experienced bunch of international cricketers fully matured. With them ,is added quality cricketers like Mustafiz, Mehedi Miraz, Soumya, Sabbir, Mithun, Mosaddek and Rubel.
Even Saifuddin and Rahi have enormous talents. There is no reasons why tiger admirers must not pin high hopes on them.
Ace all-rounder Shakib could be the owner of a precious record entering the elite club of enviable double 250 runs and 5000 runs in ODI in the last match if catches were not dropped of his bowling. He carried his brilliant form with the bat scoring yet another half century, his 43rd.
But he had to retire out with suspected side strain. Hope it is not a serious issue letting him unfit for the final which Bangladesh desperately like to win. But if he is not match fit he must not be pushed.
Bangladesh has required bench strength. Of course you can not replace a world class performer like that. In the probable absence of Shakib other senior players Tamim, Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah have to shoulder extra burden of playing to their full reputation.
Soumya, Liton, Sabbir must tweet. Mosaddek and Miraz can play the role of poor men’s Shakib with bat and ball.
The team can be
Tamim, Liton, Soumya, Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, Sabbir, Mosaddek, Miraz, Mashrafe, Mustafiz and Abu Jayed
It will not be wise not including Jayed in the team after his very impressive bowling in only his second ODI. Him with Mustafiz can form winning combination. Mashrafe had a rare off day in the last match. Considering inherent weakness of West Indies against spin would prefer playing Mosaddek ahead of Mithun and Saifuddin.
There is no extra pressure, no stress, and no panic. Playing usual cricket Bangladesh should win the final.
