One more mistake will cost Sabbir his career: BCB President
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon was not even aware that Sabbir Rahman has been included in the squad for the tour of New Zealand.
Sabbir has been in the spotlight since the announcement of the squad for the tour of New Zealand. Despite being suspended for 6 months, Sabbir has been included in the squad after reducing his ban.
The selectors claimed that Sabbir has been taken due to the request of the ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. But the next day, Mashrafe said that he only gave an opinion to include him and had no intention to force the selectors.
Meanwhile, the story took another turn on Monday when BCB President informed that he wasn’t even aware that Sabbir has been included in the squad.
The BCB President told in the press conference –
“We have been told he is available after January 31. he [team] list came to after everyone had signed on it. I asked about his punishment, when it was going to end. I was told his punishment was over. Maybe it was said mistakenly or maybe the punishment got lessened because the duration was reduced. I did not ask it.”
Papon has no objection for reducing the ban of Sabbir, however, the President has warned the youngster as one more mistake will end his career.
“If he does it again he will not be able to play anymore. I think if he came after taking some more time than it would have been better for him. It is very risky for him because even a small mistake might ruin his career.”
Bangladesh will play three ODIs and three Tests against New Zealand.
