Among those issues, Test opening slot has turned out to be a big headache for all the teams playing in the format. None of the teams have good opening batsmen at the moment in the format.

The Ashes 2019 is the hottest topic around the game. There all are able to see how openers are struggling in both teams, Australia and England. England are struggling with the position after the retirement of Alastair Cook. Rory Burns is doing a good job at the top for England.

But he is unable to find a good partner for him at the top. England tried Jason Roy as an opener after his success as an opener against the white ball. But it ended up in a disappointment and Now Joe Denly is been tried at the opening slot. In the last Test, Denly didn’t prove much for promoting him as an opener. England are hoping to get a solution through himself.

On the other hand for Australia, David Warner is giving an unexpected shock to the team after coming back from the one year ban. He was in hot form during the World Cup. All of a sudden he is failing to be among runs in the important tournament. The second opener is also a big problem as Cameron Bancroft and Marcus Harris are also showing disappointments.

Coming to the subcontinent, the no.1 Test team in ICC Test Rankings, India are also experiencing this issue for the past one year. India are trying a list of players in the slot like Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, and Mayank Agarwal. It looks like Mayank Agarwal has settled in the position and he is looking for a suitable partner.

There are some talks going like the management is trying to try Rohit Sharma at the slot. India have a luxury of players like Shubman Gill, Abimanyu Easwaran, who are waiting for a chance in the team. With the bunch of players, hopefully, India can solve the issue soon.

India’s visitors at the moment South Africa are also dealing with the same problem for the past year. They are also in a need to find a good replacement for Hashim Amla. Even Hashim Amla was also in poor form during his last days. South Africa are in a terrible situation with many repairs to be done.

Like in the case of these four biggies, all the teams are experiencing the same issue. Nowadays it is rare to see a century open partnership in white clothes. This reduces some real entertainment in the format. Let’s hope for the best turn around in the case
