Pacer Abu Jayed Rahi tests positive for COVID-19
Bangladeshi pacer Abu Jayed Rahi has been tested positive for COVID-19. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the contamination on Wednesday 23 September. The test which was carried out among the cricketers from skill camp on 22 September, one of the samples tested positive and it was Pacer Abu Jayed Rahi.
BCB Sports Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said:
“Pace bowler Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi has reported positive for COVID-19. He will receive treatment in isolation for COVID as per guidelines and will undergo further tests in due course.”
Amid the Sri Lanka tour , Bangladesh announced a squad for skill camp. Samples were collected from 27 cricketers called up to the Bangladesh Team Skill Camp with test results of 26 returning negative while one sample was tested positive.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play a three match Test series against Sri Lanka in October November window as part of ICC Test Championship. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 27 members preliminary squad for three match test series.
The membered from the preliminary squad are undergoing COVID-19 tests in bio secured bubble atmosphere for the tour. Before this , opener Saif Hassan was tested positive for COVID-19. After third test he was found negative. Meanwhile, two Pacers were having some growing symptoms for coronavirus. Therefore, BCB put Abu Jayed Rahi and Ebadot Hosssain in isolation and Rahi tested positive at last.
