Pakistan name six uncapped for SA Tests

Pakistan have named 17-man squad for South Africa Test series that includes six uncapped members.

Babar Azam will make his debut as Test captain in the first of the two Tests. The former skippers Sarfataz Ahmed and Azhar Ali have been named in the squad. Fawad Alam retains his place after a hundred during New Zealand tour.

The squad sees return of fast bowler Hasan Ali, who was in-form in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy. Another paceman Haris Rauf is one of the six uncapped players.

Shan Masood, Mohammad Abbas and Haris Sohail were removed from the preliminary squad earlier.

The first Test in Karachi kicks off on January 26 (Tuesday), marking the first Test in the country since Bangladesh played in Rawalpindi last year. Rawalpindi will host the second Test from February 4.

South Africa men’s team are touring Pakistan for the first time in 14 years.
