The two-match Test series will end with the second Test in Karachi starting on December 19. The series will witness Test cricket return to Pakistan after more than a decade with the last five-day game in the country taking place in 2009 against Sri Lanka.

Left-handed batsman Fawad Alam has finally made his way through the team as he earned the re-call after becoming the second-quickest Pakistan batsman to score 12,000 first-class runs thus placing himself right behind legendary Hanif Mohammad.

The 34-year-old batsman last played a Test match for Pakistan in November, 2009 against New Zealand. The veteran has replaced all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed after dismal performance in recent Australia series.

Teenage sensation Naseem Shah retained his place in the squad while 19-year old Muhammad Musa lost his place following an abject Test debut in Adelaide. Usman Shinwari replaced him.

Haris Sohail has received another chance to prove himself despite showing poor performance in Australia. Azhar Ali who replaced Sarfraz Ahmed will continue to lead the side.
