Pakistan tour to go ahead as scheduled despite terrorist threat rumors
Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and three T20Is against Pakistan at their den, which is scheduled to begin on September 27.
Pakistan fans are set to get the taste of international cricket at home again as Sri Lanka will be touring them for three ODIs and three T20Is. Though the tour was on hold after receiving “reliable information of a possible terrorist threat” on the Sri Lankan team, but it has now been confirmed that the series will go ahead as scheduled.
Sri Lanka cricket (SLC) released a statement on Thursday, which says:
“The Major General (Rtd.) J. R. Kulathunga, National Intelligence Head, on behalf of the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka confirmed that no information has been received by the Ministry of Defence through any Intelligence Agency indicating a threat to the Sri Lanka National Team or to the said tour.”
“It also said, no information has been received by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pakistan, indicating a threat to the Sri Lanka National Team or to the said tour.”
Lahiru Thirimanne will be leading an inexperienced in Pakistan as the majority of the first team players declined to play in Pakistan.
