Pakistan U16 beat Bangladesh U16 by 7 runs, win one-day series
Pakistan Under-16 beat Bangladesh Under-16 by seven runs on DLS method in the third limited over match to win the three match one-day series 2-0 at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday.
Before the second 50-over match of the series was abandoned due to heavy rain, Pakistani youths won the first match of the series by 99 runs at the same venue.
After opting to bat first, Bangladesh were restricted to 165 in 30.3 overs following a heavy showers that delayed the start due to wet outfield. The match officials curtailed the proceedings to 31 overs a side.
Bangladesh captain Nayeem Ahmed, top-scored with 45 off 52 balls hitting four fours.
Apart from the skipper, Arafat Islam (22), Minhajul Hasan (21), Radowan Hossan (22) and Tawhidul Islam (24) were the only batsmen to reach the double figure mark.
For Pakistan, left arm spinner Ali Asfand claimed three wickets for 38 runs while Ahmad Khan, Ismail Khan and Mohammad Shehzad took two wickets apiece.
In reply, Pakistan openers provided a solid start while chasing 166 to win the match of 61 runs before Ali Hasan (24) was being dismissed by leg-spinner Shamsul Islam.
Pakistan, thereafter, lost Mohammad Shehzad (32) at the same score. His innings included three fours and two sixes.
Afterwards Rizwan Mehmood and Ibrar Afzal provided a valuable 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Rizwan scored 34 off 38 balls slashing four fours but Ibrar remained unbeaten on 34 off 37 balls scoring three fours.
Gloomy sky forced the match proceedings to stop due to bad light when Pakistan were on 148 for 6 in the 28th over. The match officials could not bear the proceedings further in the day. Later the home team was declared winners by seven runs on DLS method as they were seven runs ahead of the DLS target at the time of the interruption.
For Bangladesh, Amir Hossain and Shamsul Islam took two wickets for 24 and 25 runs respectively.
