Pakistan's squad for West Indies ODIs series will be announced on 23rd May
The team for the upcoming series against the Windies is expected to be announced on May 23rd
The selection committee will announce the squad for the upcoming series against West Indies on May 23, while camp begins on May 29 or June 1 in Rawalpindi.
According to reports circulating earlier this week, a team for the series should be confirmed by May 20th. However, the West Indies Touring Squad has already done so.
The England-based players would reportedly be brought back into the squad once selected, but no one has been called yet.
When answering a question about the venue for the three-game ODI series, the source said Rawalpindi is still the first option and Multan will be considered as a back-up option if the situation worsens.
The source went on to reveal that the board will adopt a corona-free policy for the series while players and coaching staff are not required to remain in the biobubble environment. They can also freely interact with each other, and cricket is played in a normal environment.
However, it has also been reported that the selection committee will announce the squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and the Dutch series on June 13 after the West Indies series.
The PCB also confirmed that Multan would be the backup option to host the COVID-19 protocol-free West Indies series as the board keeps tabs on the political situation in twin cities - Rawalpindi and Islamabad. This month, Pakistan Women vs. Sri Lanka Women - three ODIs and three T20I series - will also be held without COVID-19 SOPs.
