Pant brutality seals huge win for Delhi
Ajinkya Rahane’s hundred goes in vain as Rishabh Pant’s brutal knock secured a vital win for Delhi Capitals over Rajasthan Royals.
The 40th match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was all about the batsmen, where Rishabh Pant outclasses Ajinkya Rahane in a thrilling battle.
After winning the toss, Delhi opted to field first and got the early breakthrough as Sanju Samson was departed for yet another duck. But it was Rahane’s day with the bat as he fought the battle along with skipper Steve Smith.
After the skipper was departed for a well made 50, Rahane played all the way to score a brilliant 100 and take Rajasthan to a big total of 191 in their 20 overs. With 11 fours and 3 sixes, Rahane was unbeaten for 105* off just 63 balls in the end.
In reply, Delhi were off to a flyer courtesy of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan’s opening stand of 72 runs. Man in form Shreyas Gopal removed both the openers to bring back Rajasthan back to the game.
But who knew, that even a deadly thunderstorm was incoming in the name of Rishabh Pant. With 6 fours and 4 sixes, Pant hammered an unbeaten 78* off just 36 balls to take Delhi over the line comfortably with six wickets in hand.
