Pant stunner powers Delhi to winning start
Delhi Capitals have started their season with a comfortable win over Mumbai Indians in match number 3 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to field first. Opener Prithvi Shaw departed early for 7 while Shikhar Dhawan made a steady 36-ball 43.
But it was the man in form Colling Ingram, who started to attack and he smacked 7 fours and 1 six before departing for 47. When it looked like Delhi were settling with a score of 170 odd runs, then came Rishabh Pant, who blasted the bowlers all over the park.
With 7 fours and 7 sixes, Pant played an outrageous knock of 78 off just 27 balls and it took Delhi to a massive score of 213 runs in their 20 overs. For Mumbai, Mitchell McClenaghan was the pick of the bowler, who picked up 3/40.
In reply. Mumbai were off to a very poor start as they lost both the openers and Suryakumar Yadav with less than 50 runs on the board. With a slow run-rate, Mumbai were going away from the match.
Then came Yuvraj Singh, who played his first ever match for Mumbai showed some resistance and scored 53 on his debut match. However, it was not enough to take them over the line as they felt short off 37 runs in the end.
The bowling department of Delhi were in good touch and all contributed by picking up wickets. South African speed star was the pick of the bowler, who picked up 2 wickets and conceded only 23 runs in his 4 overs.
