PCB names 15-man squad for series opener

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a revised 15-man squad for the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan side will be playing their first ODI since COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier they toured England for three Tests and as many T20Is. They lost the Test series 0-1 but ended the tour drawing the T20I series 1-1.

The hosts have cut the squad from 22 members to 15 for the first ODI. Uncapped Khushdil Shah, Usman Qadir and Musa Khan have been kept in the final 15 while veteran Mohammad Hafeez has been axed.

Mohammad Rizwan will be keeping wickets for Pakistan. Pacer Musa is expected to make his debut on Friday.

International cricket will return to Pakistan again with this time the gap being caused by the pandemic. Pakistan had to postpone second Test and one-off ODI against Bangladesh. The knockout stages of PSL (Pakistan Super League) has been rescheduled to November.

Zimbabwe will play three ODIs and three T20Is. All six matches will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The ODI series is a part of ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
