Perera added for Colombo Test
Dilruwan Perera has been added to the Sri Lanka squad for the second Test against New Zealand, which is set to begin on August 22.
Sri Lanka off-spinner Dilruwan Perera has been called-up for the second and the last Test against New Zealand. He missed the Galle Test due to injury and with his presence, the hosts’ spin attack is set to become stronger.
As Akila Dananjaya has been reported for suspect action again, there are doubts over his availability for the second Test. The availability of Perera is now more important for Sri Lanka for this reason, Dilruwan endured a tough time during Sri Lanka’s overseas tours of New Zealand and Australia last season
Perera picked up only six wickets despite bowling a cumulative of approximately 165 overs through those four Tests while he ended up wicket-less in his last red-ball appearance against Australia.
However, he was a vital bowler for Sri Lanka last year during the series against South Africa and England. In those five home Tests, he ended up with a whopping 38 wickets and played a vital role in clinching a white-wash against South Africa.
