Pilot calls for a equally talented back-up team

The current Bangladesh national side has a number of world-class players who have the full potential of turning a match on its head anytime. Still Khaled Mashud Pilot, the former Bangladesh captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, feels the urgency of keeping an equally talented back-up team ready.

“We have talented players in our country. Take Mustafizur Rahman for instance. Who knew he was there? But he arrived all of a sudden, and took the entire world by storm. We definitely have more such talents who are yet to be unearthed,” said Pilot.

“Yes, sometimes some players get eliminated from the team and can’t return again. But it’s the fault of the players actually. They must have some problem with their game for which they can’t make a comeback.

“This is why we always should keep a back-up team ready, so that we can replace a player with another one when he loses form or loses his touch. And in order to do so, we should concentrate more on our ‘A’ team. We have to give them the opportunity to play against quality sides. They will tour many countries, foreign teams will come here to play them. This way they will become experienced even before getting the national cap,” concluded Pilot.
