Herath Herath

Left-arm orthodox spinner Rangana Herath had his first taste of international cricket in 1999. Since playing his first one-day international in 2004, Herath has been in and out of the Sri Lankan team, earning a regular place from 2011 onwards when he rose to prominence as a leading spinner following the retirement of Muttiah Muralidaran. Now with more than 70 ODIs to his name, and more than 70 wickets, Herath played in the ICC Cricket World Cup for a second time in 2015, having played four matches at the 2011 tournament. Likewise, Herath has earned a reputation as Sri Lanka’s main strike bowler on the Test arena since Muralidaran’s retirement. He set a world record during the 2011-12 tour of South Africa when he took 9-127 in an innings, and in 83 Test matches he has secured an impressive 31 five-wicket hauls.

His first ODI wicket was Zimbabwe’s Dion Ebrahim.
