Imrul Kayes

Imrul Kayes

Left-hand opening batsman Imrul Kayes took his first major steps towards national selection when he was included in the Bangladesh Academy team in 2008. An impressive tour of Sri Lanka with the Academy team resulted in his inclusion in the one-day international squad to play New Zealand, where he scored 12 runs on debut. Imrul has since played more than 60 ODIs, scoring a century against New Zealand in 2010. He also has 13 fifties to his name. He played six matches during the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, scoring an unbeaten 73 against Netherlands and 60 against England to finish Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer with 188 runs at an average of 37.60. Originally left out of Bangladesh's squad for the 2015 World Cup, Imrul was called in as a replacement after Anamul Haque sustained a shoulder injury.

He produced two man-of-the-match performances during the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
