New Zealand International Amy Satterthwaite comes to the Hurricanes after playing in Tasmania last season with the Cripps Tasmanian Roar. She has played 61 T20 matches for NZ, 4 T20 matches for Tasmania & 51 T20 games for Canterbury Magicians. Sattherthwaite made her international debut in 2007 and has the best bowling figures of 6-17 but is also strong with the bat, making 87no for Tasmania last season and accumulating 1271 runs for her NZ domestic side Canterbury.  Satterthwaite became the first player in WODI and second overall after Kumar Sangakkara in ODI to score four consecutive hundreds in 2017. Following these achievements, Satterthwaite won the inaugural ICC Women's ODI Player of the Year award. In September 2018, Suzie Bates stepped down as captain of New Zealand and was replaced by Satterthwaite.

Satterthwaite was given the nickname 'the branch' due to her distinct height advantage.
