Pollard set to be included in Windies’ World Cup squad
Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard is set to be included in their World Cup squad after a good season with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This has really come out of the imagination of the cricket world as Kieron Pollard is set to make it to the World Cup squad despite being not picked in the provisional 15-man squad which was named earlier.
With teams allowed to make any change till May 23 without the permission of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the rumours are flying all the way regarding all the teams about their changes in the squad. The latest to hit the headline is the Windies’ likely inclusion of Pollard.
According to Guardian Media Sports, the selection panel has informed that the decision to include Pollard is due to his experience in the bigger stage which will come in handy at this major event and will also help the youngsters in the side. The news outlet has also reported that the decision will be finalised by the board and made public this weekend.
The all-rounder has played 101 ODIs and scored 2,289 runs at an average of 25.71. The right-hander has three centuries and nine half-centuries and enjoys a strike rate of 92.89 while he has picked 50 wickets at 39.12 with an economy rate of 5.74.
