Ponting predicts India-Australia Test series result

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who made correct predictions for the Ashes last summer has predicted the result for the upcoming India-Australia Test series.

Ponting predicted 4-0 in favour of Australia in the Ashes last summer and in the end it exactly happened. Needless so say, Ponting’s predicition can’t be taken lightly after that.

The former Aussie captain predicted 2-1 this time in favour of the home side Australia for the upcoming four-match Test series against India. He also predicted that Usman Khawaja and  Josh Hazlewood will be the two standout performers for the men in yellow.

When asked the reason behind it, Ponting had words full of praise for Khawaja:

“He’s on top of his game, his record in Australia is outstanding. As much of a threat that the Indian fast bowlers might pose, I think he’s got a game that can cope with it here in Australia. I’m going with him to be the leading run scorer and man of the series.”

“Right now he’s in a really good place, the selectors backed him through that UAE tour, gave him a chance and he came out (better) on the other side of that. With the skill that he’s got and maybe a bit more belief in his own game than ever before, I think he’s got the perfect package to have a great summer,” he added.

The Test series will begin on 6 December with the first Test to be played at the Adelaide Oval.
