Preliminary squad announced for Australia, SA series

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced 29-member preliminary squad for home series against Australia and a full series tour of South Africa this year. The squad also includes Tanbir Hayder, Liton Das and Mukhtar Ali. All-rounder Nasir Hossain has been picked as well.

Anamul had scored 596 runs in 16 matches in Dhaka Premier League 2017 for Gazi Group Cricketers. He had a good first-class season too. Liton was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 752 runs under his belt for Abahani Limited.

Al-Amin is in the squad. He was out of the team for over a year since last year’s World T20. The fast bowler was in form for Prime Bank in the DPL. Mukhtar played for Bangladesh in 2016 in the T20I series against Zimbabwe. Leg-spinner Tanbir Hayder is picked. He was in Bangladesh’s New Zealand tour in 2016-17.

Players will start their camp from July 10 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. Rubel Hossain, who has undergone a surgery on his jaw, will not be available for the first few weeks as he is suggested 4-6 weeks rest.

The Test series against Australia will begin on August 27 in Dhaka. The second match will be on September 4 in Chittagong. Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is against South Africa starting from September 28.
