Preview: Bangladesh seek revenge over Afghanistan

It has been a week of Afghanistan’s historic Test win against Bangladesh. The format has now changed to T20Is and hosts Bangladesh are aiming for a revenge in the third tri-series match.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan have had a rivalry in the past few years. In a tour to India last year, Afghanistan had whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in the T20I series in Dehradun. Bangladesh’s only win over them came in the opening match of World T20 2014.

Both teams have started their campaign with victories over Zimbabwe. 19-year-old Afif Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain’s brilliance rescued Bangladesh in the first match of the tournament, winning by 3 wickets in the last over.

Afghanistan have had a good outing in their first game. Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran smacked seven sixes in a row which propelled them to 28-run victory. Their new T20I skipper bagged two wickets.

There is rain forecast in Dhaka however that may not affect the match as cloudy conditions are expected throughout the match. A fresh pitch will be used for Sunday’s clash. Fans can witness more runs from the batsmen.

Bangladesh have included left-arm pacer Abu Hider Rony in the squad. If he gets a chance, that might be at the expense of Taijul Islam, who made his T20I debut on Friday.

Afghanistan may not bother to change their winning combination.
