Preview: Bangladesh’s pride all at stake

Before the start of the series, Bangladesh were in the back-foot as senior players Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan termed Afghanistan as favorites. Afghanistan played better as a unit in all departments and that made Shakib and his men suffer throughout the first two matches. After spending a phenomenal season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rashid Khan and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman continued their brilliance with the national colours and kept dominating the Tigers.

With all pride at stake, the men in green will be looking to avoid whitewash and earn a consolation win in the last match of the series while on the other hand, Afghanistan will be all fired up to secure a whitewash and make the series even more memorable.

After back to back convincing wins, it is unlikely that Afghanistan will change their winning combination. But they might try some experiments as the series is already under their belt.

For Bangladesh, Mosaddek Hossain is likely to be dropped. Though he was handy as a part-time bowler, but his main job is to score runs with the bat which he failed in both of the matches. In that case, Ariful Islam might get a chance to prove himself in the last match of the series.

Probable XI:

Afghanistan: Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Usman Ghani, Asghar Stanikzai (captain), Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Shafiqullah, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Shapoor Zadran

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Ariful Islam, Abu Hider, Rubel Hossain, Nazmul Islam Apu
