Bangladesh were the more happier side at the end of Day 1 in the first Test of two match Test series against Pakistan. However, it was a horrid start for the hosts as they were stuttering at 49/4 before the end of the first session. Despite a poor start, batting coach Ashwell Prince is backing the top order to come good, and is looking towards the positives.
Prince quotes, "I was hoping we would focus on the positives. It was a matter of time until we spoke about the negative. We are playing against one of the best bowling attacks in the world. Until Shaheen Shah Afridi got Saif out, both were looking confident. He bowled one of the best bumpers you can get from any fast bowler in the world."
He further added, "In my view, any batsman who has been dismissed with a good ball can sleep easy at night. It is the type of messages that I try to bring to the team on a regular basis. In a Test, somebody should bowl a good ball to get you out. You shouldn’t be playing a poor shot to get out."
Ashwell Prince believes that there were some signs of promise in the top order, especially from Saif Hassan ana Najmul Hossain Shanto. He is also hopeful that they will click in the second innings.
H remarked, "Shanto hit some nice straight drives. Saif too. The guys looked good at the start but Pakistan bowled well to get early wickets. Saif got a good ball. There’s nothing wrong with Saif’s technique. He got a good short ball from one of the best fast bowlers in the world. Well done to Shaheen Shah. Hopefully Saif will get a score in the second."
