Rabada did not feature against CSK in team’s last game as he was given the much-needed rest after undergoing scans on his back. He shouldn’t risk himself playing the league any further as World Cup is on the way.

He has also been advised to return home by Cricket South Africa (CSA), as a precautionary measure ahead of the summer’s showpiece event which is less than a month away from the start.

Rabada is now the leading wicket-taker by far in the tournament with as many as 25 wickets in 12 games. He possesses a brilliant average of 14.72 and economy of 7.82.

Rabada gives an emotional speech

“It is indeed very hard for me to leave the Delhi Capitals at this stage of the tournament,” said Kagiso Rabada before his departure to home. “But with the World Cup just a month away, a collective decision has been made for me in this regard.

“It’s been a tremendous season for me with the Delhi Capitals, both on and off the field, and I truly believe that our team can win the trophy.”

KG played a substantial role for the team reaching the playoffs for the first time since the year 2012.

“It’s unfortunate that Rabada is having to leave us at this stage of the tournament. But I have full confidence in our team, and I’m sure each and every member of this unit will step up to the occasion,” he said.

Delhi Capitals are all set to play the last league game against Rajasthan Royals on May 4 at home venue Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi ahead of the playoffs.
