Rahane posts emotional tweet after historic victory in Australia
Team India absolutely dominated the mighty Aussies at The Gabba. The visitors not only won the Brisbane Test but also secured their second Test series victory in Australian soil. This really goes to show how India have come a long way to reach greater heights in terms of performances.
India used to get battered and humiliated by 4-0 but those margins are long gone as India picked up the lessons on the go while also sorting out the woes in every aspect of the game. India lost the first Test at Adelaide Oval but came back stronger in Melbourne to equal the series.
The third Test between the two powerful teams ended in a fascinating draw in Sydney. While both teams were level on terms so far, the fourth and final Test match which was held at The Gabba was the series decider.
In fact, there was so much hype heading into The Gabba Test because Australia never lost a single Test match here for 32 years. But Indians breached the fortress and scripted a memorable win. Rishabh Pant (89), Shubman Gill (91) and Cheteshwar Pujara (56) helped India chase down 328.
Ajinkya Rahane deserves a lot of credit for leading the team ever so well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Virat Kohli left the Indian team after the Adelaide Test in order to attend the birth of his first child. Rahane took the charge and led the team from the front.
Rahane has never lost a Test match as captain and it is good to see him delivering the goods as a captain and as a batsman. He scored a marvellous century in Melbourne Test and helped the team level the series. He was also named the man of the match.
After India won the Test series by 2-1, Rahane took to Twitter to post two tweets. His first tweet reads: “Proud to be a part of this unit.”

It means a lot to us. I don’t know how to describe this, but our boys showed a lot of character and determination after the Adelaide Test. I’m really proud of each individual. The conversation between Pujara and me was that he would bat normal, and I would take it on.
It was all about intent. Credit to Pujara, the way he handled the pressure was magnificent. Rishabh and Washington were very good at the end. Taking 20 wickets was the key, so we opted for 5 bowlers. Sundar brought the balance in place of Jadeja.
The intention was clear to play five bowlers. Siraj played two Tests, Saini just one, so it was inexperienced but the character shown by the bowlers and everyone else was incredible. We didn’t discuss anything about Adelaide. Just played wanted to play the remaining games with a good attitude and character without worrying about the result.
