Rahane shines as India beat Windies by 105 Runs
Brilliant opening partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan as well as big contributions from skipper Virat Kohli steered India to a 105-run thrashing of Windies in Sunday’s second one-day international.
Defending a formidable total of 310 for five in a match reduced to 43 overs per side due to early morning rain and an two-hour delayed start, Bhuvi, as ever, was consistent at the top. Umesh got his lengths wrong while Hardik did his bit with an array of cutters and seam-up deliveries.
Spinner Ravi Ashwin hasn’t looked at his best, but Kuldeep Yadav, on his maiden outing with the ball, made the most of the opportunity by claiming 3 wickets. He was spanked by Hope during his initial overs, but the 22- year old kept calm and stuck to his plans.
Shai Hope hit a valiant 81 in reply for West Indies, but after falling to 4-2 the hosts were never in the race and stumbled their way to 205-6
Earlier, opener Rahane’s well-paced 103 in another dominant opening partnership with Shikhar Dhawan who scored 63 set the tone for the Virat Kohli led side after they were put in to bat in heavily overcast and damp conditions.
Kohli then picked up the pace even further when Dhawan departed after a first-wicket partnership of 114. Having dominated a 97-run second-wicket partnership with Rahane, Kohli made centre stage all his own in the final assault.
