Rain forces ‘A’ series level

Poor weather conditions have forced the third unofficial ODI between Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A to be abandoned at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The three-match series has ended in 1-1 draw.

Sri Lanka A posted 240/9 on board in curtailed 45 overs. The play was interrupted in the tenth over due to the rain. Five overs were deducted.

Shoriful Islam struck early with Upul Tharanga’s wicket. Sadeera Samarawickrama and Ashan Priyanjan made the bowlers toil with 130-run stand for the second-wicket. Samarawickrama top-scored the innings with 75 runs from 83 deliveries including 10 fours. Priyanjan made 53 off 62.

Bangladesh A hit back with four wickets for two runs (134/1 to 136/5). Skipper Thisara Perera slammed run-a-ball 44 runs, accompanied by Shehan Madushanka’s quick 29 helped the tourists post a fighting score.

Sunzamul Islam was the peak of the bowlers as he grabbed four wickets for 24 in seven overs. Seamer Khaled Ahmed took 2/42.

In reply, Bangladesh batted 3.4 overs for 12 runs without losing any wicket. Saif Hassan scored 10* from 13 balls. Zakir Hasan, who was sent to open instead of Soumya Sarkar, was on 1*.

After Sri Lanka A’s triumph in the four-dayers by 1-0, Bangladesh A won the first one-day in thriller before suffering a defeat in the next match.
