Rain ruins repeatedly: India vs New Zealand match called off
After rain relentlessly ruled in Nottingham, the match between India and New Zealand has been called off without a ball being bowled.
The umpires came out for a final inspection at 7.30 PM IST and declared it official. The two teams, therefore, have shared points and remained unbeaten in the tournament so far.
After today’s match being taken away by rain, New Zealand is staying on top of the point table with 7 points in 4 matches claiming three wins.
Meanwhile India taken away 5 points are reeling in third position with Australia in between two.
“Disappointing not to get any game time at all. From the players point of view and where the teams are placed, it was better suited not to take the field when it is not safe to play. Don’t want an injury at this stage.”
“We’ve been playing some good cricket, we’re not too worried about where we stand. Having two wins does give you confidence. A couple of practice sessions and we should be fine. It’s only about getting game time and that should happen on Sunday,” Virat Kohli said.
