Raina reveals which player gets easily distracted by cheerleaders
Every Indian Premier League franchise has a team of cheerleaders who supports their team as a form of encouragement and motivation. While there are eight franchises in the IPL, the world’s premier tournament have their own cheerleaders.
The cash-rich IPL was played behind the closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The games were played in a bio-secure environment so as to ensure the safety of the players. With no fans in the stadium, the IPL governing council decided not to call cheerleaders for obvious reasons.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Suresh Raina was asked a tricky question in the popular TV show called The Kapil Sharma show. Basically, the show is all about inviting guests where the host Kapil Sharma asks some tricky questions to his guests.
However, this time, Indian actress Archana Singh essayed the role of a special guest in the Television show had asked the toughest question to cricketer Raina. The southpaw smartly replied to her question without any pressure. Archana asked which cricketer gets easily distracted by the cheerleaders in the IPL.
Raina ducks the googly with a smart answer
The ex-Indian cricketer made his opinion quite clear that cheerleaders are for the fans who watch the match. On the contrary, cricketers don’t get much time to watch them as they are fully focused on the game. The players will see the cheerleaders on TV when they come up with interesting dance moves when a player hits a six or a four during the passage of play.
“They are for the viewers. We can’t see them as we have to focus on the match. We get to see them on TV when they dance to our sixes and fours. We get to see a bit of their performance when we go for the toss. They too arrive at 7:30 pm,” the former Indian cricketer revealed.
The left-handed batsman took the cricket fraternity by surprise when he backed out of the IPL tourney citing personal reasons. Raina’s absence turned out to be a massive blow to Chennai Super Kings’ campaign. CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their history.
Besides Raina, even veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh ruled himself out of the tournament just days ahead of the IPL opener. The Turbanator clarified that he backed out of the tourney due to personal teams. CSK franchise removed both the players’ names from their official website.
