Rajshahi Royals eyeing BBPL final: Abu Jayed Rahi


During the last match between Rajshahi Royals and Comilla Warriors, the later’s skipper Andre Russell made a use of all his bowling options. A total of nine bowlers moved with their bowling skills in that particular match.

Later Royals’ pacer Abu Jayed Rahi, on explaining the spectacle revealed it was part of plan for the later phase of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League 2019.

‘’We have this kind of team combination and we have almost five all-rounder’s in our side,’’ Abu Jayed said.

‘’We have been bowling like this and we are using a lot of bowlers. We have used almost nine bowlers today,’’ he said.

‘’We are getting used to it,I think there is good for us as we will know whom we will use in the later stage,’’ he said.

Jayed also added that the skipper Russell’s approach of getting to know his mates in the team might be beneficial in the crucial days ahead.

’As this is our fifth match he will know the player well.

‘’He needs to know some players as well and he is getting to know the players slowly. I think he is using all the bowlers in the group phase, he will know whom to use in the semi-final or final stage,’’ Jayed said.

Rajshahi Royals is now placed in the second position of the point table following a 7 wicket win over Comilla Warriors at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday. With 10 points in seven matches, Chattogram Challengers are now in top of the list.

Expecting good natured wickets in Dhaka, Rahi said, “This wicket [in Chattogram] is good for us and hopefully, we will get these wickets in Dhaka.”

‘’I cannot say about the goal of becoming the champions but we are hopeful of playing in the final,’’ he said.
