It is known that all is not well around the Afghanistan team during their World Cup campaign. Even players were divided into groups and engaged in some fights off the field and was able to see that impact on the field too.

Just before the start of World Cup, their regular captain Asghar Afghan was sacked from captaincy and Gulbadin Naib was appointed. That move was not totally accepted by Afghanistan players as some seniors like Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan showed their frustration in social media.

Now Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken another move and appointed Rashid Khan as the new captain for Afghanistan for all three formats of the game. Former captain Asghar Afghan will be the deputy of Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan will lead the side in a one-off Test against Bangladesh in September, a tri-series involving Bangladesh and Zimbabwe before a full home series against West Indies – including three T20Is, three ODIs and a one-off Test – in India between November 5 and December 1.
